We reduce our operational waste by managing the cost of operating our business. We work with our suppliers to ensure that products arrive in the right quantities with the best shelf life to avoid wastage due to excesses. Store wastes like cardboard boxes are used for packing items of customers and other in-store purposes.
Changing Climate Patterns
Changing climate patterns, population growth and agriculture all affect water resource & availability. We practice responsible usage of water throughout our operations to effectively manage our environmental impact & associated costs to our business. We monitor water usage to reduce wastage consumption. We watch out for water leaks and respond to maintenance issues when necessary.

Food Recycling
We control our food waste by recycling our food products. We don’t dispose our cake off cuts in the bakery section; instead we use them to make other appetizing pastry products. We maximize the usage of our raw beef by making other beef products like sausages and chopped fried beef. We also apply this same method to raw chicken by making fried chicken products.
Price Reduction
We reduce the price of items before expiration to avoid food wastage due to expiry dates. We ensure that remaining stock is sold to staff at an affordable price. Our staffs are properly trained on smart packaging and handling of goods to preserve products and reduce wastage due to damage of food products.

Roban Stores is very conscious about the issue of climate change, knowing that it is a great challenge to global community and poses a major threat to food security. We are tasked with protecting the resources we are dependent on by implementing measures to reduce carbon emission in our environment. Due to the nature of our business, we consume a lot of electricity in operating our store on a daily basis. Our cold rooms, Refrigerators, Air conditioners, Lights and other store appliances have to work efficiently to fulfil our customer needs.
Maximizing Refrigeration Space
Maximizing the availability of our refrigerated shelf space and use of refrigeration doors are additional steps we take to reduce emission. We use refrigeration doors for our chilled drinks and ice cream display only; they are not used for low level chiller units that harbour fast moving product. We upgraded the refrigeration equipment in our stores with Eco-friendly refrigerants and also improved the frequency of our maintenance. This significantly reduced leakage rates & our refrigerant gas emissions also reduced as a result this approach.
Electricity Consumption
We implemented measures to reduce our consumption of electricity by close monitoring of our electrical appliances and regulating their usage. We maintain our refrigerators regularly to minimize both refrigerant gas and water leaks.
